The community I live, worship, play, and work in is Meridian, MS.
When my employer flew me out here from the Chicago area to take a look at Meridian in April of 1998 it was cold and windy in Chicago, and it was "room temperature" in Meridian- the first great selling point.
As we drove around the city there were a large number of Churches (more then 150 I found out later), so my wife and I would easily find a place of worship and fellowship - selling point number two.
Also noticed; while the downtown area seemed to have suffered an exodus of retail stores (probably due to the new and impressive Bonita lakes Mall) new uses were being found for old buildings, and the downtown was being revitalized! Visit the East Mississippi Business Development Corporation web site for more information.
We then traveled the surrounding rural areas with their deeply impressive beauty (just outside the city limits). This was the final selling point, and my current commute into the City of Meridian is less then 5 minutes!
